Advertising Executive
5280 Elevated, Inc. is seeking a multimedia sales professional to join its team. 5280’s media portfolio includes the national award-winning Denver-based monthly lifestyle magazine (5280 magazine), a robust suite of digital media, social media, event sponsorships and an annual ancillary publication (5280 Health).
The ideal candidate is an energetic, self-driven, goal-oriented individual. The candidate must be able to manage an active account portfolio, while cultivating a strong pipeline of new business. The candidate is responsible for selling advertising programs across all media outlets and platforms and work with both local and national accounts. They must be able to manage the entire sales process while creating, presenting and closing multimedia advertising plans that lead to new and long-term revenue. The candidate should be highly organized and able to thrive in an informal yet high-pressure, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive revenue across all platforms (print, digital, and event sponsorship) while meeting and exceeding monthly sales goals
- Identify key advertising placement decision makers and initiate and pursue productive, consultative relationships with local and national accounts
- Set up high-volume sales calls each week with clients and agencies to develop and present new revenue opportunities
- Create compelling multimedia proposals and sponsorship packages
- Use various sales tools, presentations, research, marketing and other resources to help effectively deliver sales messaging to clients
- Attend networking, community, and client events and provide a strong representation of the 5280 brand
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and new categories of business
- Work directly with the Publisher, Advertising Director, and Marketing Director to develop custom programs for existing and new clients
- Maintain and grow CRM database
Qualifications and Characteristics
- 3-5 years of media sales experience, with digital media experience preferred
- Strong aptitude for selling high growth digital products and platforms
- Self-motivated individual who is skilled at uncovering new prospects
- Competitive spirit – you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy chasing down leads
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Hyper-organized and able to manage a large volume of accounts
- Able to work well both independently and with a team in a collaborative environment
Salary range: $55,000–$85,000 (base salary + uncapped commission)

Food Editor
5280, the leading city magazine of Denver, Colorado, is seeking a senior-level food editor to join its award-winning staff. The ideal candidate should be a creative, sophisticated, collaborative editor who has a passion for magazine making and storytelling as well as food, drink, restaurants, and dining culture. The food editor will be expected to advance 5280’s reputation as an authority on Denver and Colorado both in print and online, welcoming the opportunity to report engaging, definitive stories about everything from up-and-coming food truck operators to the session beer trend to the city’s most recent Michelin star recipients.
5280 editors are expected to live in the Denver metro area. Our offices are in downtown Denver, and we currently have a hybrid working model. Typical business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Primary Responsibilities
- Writing for the Eat and Drink section of the print issue and assigning and editing one restaurant review per month
- Conceiving of, reporting, and writing Eat and Drink print feature packages
- Managing the Dining Guide, in print and online
- Generating ideas for 5280.com and writing, assigning, and editing digital stories
- Backend work in WordPress
- Building three e-newsletters per month
- Attending restaurant and food-industry events, including some regional travel, and making regular TV appearances
- Frequent dining out
- Forging and managing relationships with restaurateurs, chefs, beverage and agricultural producers, artisans, and the industry as a whole
- Maintaining an active social media presence
Preferred Experience
- Five-plus years of magazine writing and editing experience, preferably on the dining beat
- Experience editing and/or overseeing a dynamic magazine section and/or online vertical
- Breaking news and driving local conversation through digital stories and print packages
- Strong InDesign skills and familiarity with content-management systems
- A baseline knowledge of SEO and digital best practices
- Multilingualism is a plus

- A collegial, collaborative attitude when working with both junior and senior editors, including giving and accepting edits in a positive, constructive manner

The senior editor will be expected to advance 5280’s reputation as an authority on Denver and Colorado both in print and online, welcoming the opportunity to report engaging, definitive stories about everything from local politics to the most epic dispersed camping sites.
5280 editors are expected to live in the Denver metro area. Our offices are in downtown Denver, and we currently have a hybrid working model. Typical business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Primary Responsibilities
- Writing and editing service packages—often cover packages—for the print issue
- Writing and editing longform narrative departments and features
- Participating in pitch meetings and senior-level meetings regarding story lineups and selection
- Writing for the front-of-the book section of the magazine
- Generating ideas for 5280.com and writing, assigning, and editing digital stories
- Backend work in WordPress
- Building two e-newsletters per month
Preferred Experience
- Five-plus years of journalism experience
- Experience conceiving of, producing, editing, and managing lively, multifaceted service packages in print and/or online
- Experience writing short, voice-y articles for print and digital
- Ability to report and write narrative stories of varying lengths
- Experience working within and covering underrepresented communities
- A baseline knowledge of SEO and digital best practices
