Whether you’d like to save wildlife, restore wilderness, or celebrate culture, there are plenty of ways to get involved this week.
Flood Restoration: During last year’s devastating floods, some of the most popular trails in Golden’s White Ranch Park were swept away. Lace up your boots this Saturday and spend the day with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, while reconstructing sections of this pristine wildlife park (no experience necessary). Sat, 9 a.m.; White Ranch Park
That's only $1 per issue!
Urban Safari: This family-friendly charity event isn’t your standard fun-run. In an effort to raise funds for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, many runners and walkers in this weekend’s Gorilla Trek will be wearing full gorilla costumes. Participants will answer trivia questions and win prizes along the way (there is beer and food at the end, too). $10-$20; Sat, 10 a.m.; The Wildlife Experience
Celebrate Diversity: For 28 years, Colorado Black Arts Festival has showcased world-renowned art and music from cultures around the world. This three-day event will feature live music ranging from African drum and dance to reggae and blues. On Saturday morning, don’t miss the Boogaloo Celebration Parade, where marching bands, drill teams, elaborate floats, and celebrity guests will march through City Park. Fri-Sun, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Historic Denver City Park West
