Celebrate the Troops: Spend a night honoring these brave men and women at the Navy SEAL Foundation’s 2014 Denver Evening of Tribute. The fourth annual fundraiser supports assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families (both active duty and veterans) through educational opportunities, tragedy assistance, survivor support, and family services. Care for the Kids: Enjoy the sunshine in Confluence Park with Denver Area Youth Services’ Summer DAYS, a kid-focused party with live music from Yo’ Mamas and Papas, Birch Street, and Groundscore, plus arts and crafts, local food vendors, and a beer tent for adults. DAYS provides support to more than 2,000 people in the greater Denver area, for everything from foster care to mental health care and sexual health education. Sat noon–6 p.m.; Confluence Park

I Got Soul: Since its founding in 2007, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 25 million pairs of shoes to the needy in more than 100 countries. Join the effort by participating in Back to School Shoe Drive put on by the Colorado chapter of Soles4Souls; the goal is to collect and distribute 10,000 pairs.
