Volunteer Trail Crew at North Table Mountain: If you’ve ever marveled at a particularly well-built trail or wondered what it takes to build a stone staircase up a mountain, this is your chance to be a part of that magic. Jefferson County Open Space is winding down its trail work for the season, and it’s counting on volunteers for its final push to restore trails damaged by spring rains at North Table Mountain. Volunteers are encouraged to RSVP through the session’s EventBrite page so organizers will know how many tools and (free!) lunches to provide. A parent or guardian must accompany volunteers under 16. All volunteers must be in good physical condition—trail building and restoration requires moving heavy rocks and other forms of strenuous labor. Long pants and work gloves are also encouraged. Bachelor Auction: Score a date and raise money for a good cause at this Bachelor Auction to benefit Epic Experience, a local organization that provides free, week-long outdoor adventure therapy camps for cancer “thrivers” and survivors. Bid on some of Denver’s most eligible bachelors, who will offer a unique, fun activity for their dates. All proceeds from the auction will help Epic Experience fund more camps. Be Beautiful, Be Yourself Fashion Show: Individuals with Down Syndrome will take the runway at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation‘s annual Be Beautiful, Be Yourself Fashion Show. This event is among the most successful fundraisers for Down Syndrome research and treatment, drawing participants and audience members from all over the country and beyond—typically, the event raises about $2 million. Nordstrom donates clothes for the models, and auction bids are doubled with a matching grant. Local sports celebrities, including the Rockies’ Carlos Gonzales, and the Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried will be in attendance. Service Saturday With a Little Help: Raking leaves, moving patio furniture, and clearing gutters can be a pain for even the most able-bodied among us, but keeping up with the changing seasons can even tougher for some of the Denver area’s elderly. Lend a hand and make a friend by helping seniors prepare for winter by taking part in this initiative organized by A Little Help, an area nonprofit that aims to support older residents in their homes and communities.
