Rock-A-Belly: Eat, drink, and dance for charity. Food for Thought’s annual hunger awareness event features live music, chef tastings, and plenty of craft beer. The local nonprofit aims to eliminate weekend hunger for students in Denver schools who qualify for free or reduced meals, by providing a power sack for them to bring home over the weekend. Food for Thought is also run solely by volunteers; visit the website if you’re interested in lending in hand. Saturday, 5 to 9 p.m.; Turnhalle at Tivoli, Metropolitan State University of Denver, 900 Auraria Pkwy.; $50
27th Annual Puttin’ on the Max: MaxFund, a no-kill animal shelter and adoption center in Denver, invites attendees of its 27th black tie fundraiser to dress up as their favorite movie stars. This year’s “Pawpurrazzi” theme also features a silent and live auction, a raffle for glamorous getaways, stand-up comedy, and a pet parade. The money raised at this event will allow MaxFund to continue to love and care for the animals residing in its shelter, as well as help them find their “furever” homes. Saturday, 5:30 p.m.; The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa, 321 17th St.
Rims to Ruins: Enjoy art from more than 20 well-known artists whose work is inspired by Western landscapes at this charitable event. Rims to Ruins benefits the Mesa Verde Foundation, which supports, preserves, and protects Mesa Verde National Park in Southwestern Colorado. Take in the work of painters and sculptors, alongside cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Saturday, 6 p.m.; The Kent Denver School, 4000 E. Quincy Ave.; Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online or by phone: 303-321-3120
