Exceeding Boundaries: This event is a celebration and a chance to fundraise for the National Sports Center for the Disabled. The breakfast, held at Sports Authority Field, raises awareness about therapeutic recreation and honors people making a difference in the sports community. Attendees will have the chance to visit adaptive demonstration stations, and hear from Joe Ellis, the president of the Denver Broncos. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased here. Tuesday, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.; Sports Authority Field at Mile High, 1701 Bryant St.
“It’s all About Love… For Those Who Serve Our Country”: Head over to the Inverness Hotel for a tasty dinner and the chance to celebrate members of the Denver community who are serving our country. Honorees include Rick Crandell who started the Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation, Kathryn Wirkus who co-founded Women Veterans of Colorado, Julian Scadden who volunteers in the 11th hour program at the VA hospital, and Project Sanctuary, a nonprofit that provides retreats and family support services for military families. Bonus: The event acts as the annual fundraiser for the Heartlight Center—a nonprofit that provides affordable grief support and education after the death of a loved one. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased here. Friday, 5:30 to 9 p.m.; The Inverness Hotel, 200 Inverness Drive West, Englewood
Pickin’ on Cancer: Love live music? Catch some awesome bluegrass tunes and raise money for cancer research. “Pickin’ on Cancer” gathers some of Colorado’s best bluegrass talent—including Allie Kral and Adam Aijala—to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The event is part of a candidate’s bid for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Man or Woman of the Year”—a 10-week fundraising competition with participants all over the U.S. Tickets are $15 in advance and can be purchased here. Friday, 9 p.m. to Saturday, 2 a.m.; The 1up – Colfax, 717 East Colfax Ave.
Lung Force: Grab your running shoes and warm-up your voice—you’ll need both for the American Lung Association’s first annual Lung Force Walk Denver. The event is being described as “ a charity walk like no other,” as participants will have the opportunity to dance and sing, “raising their voices against lung cancer.” You can choose between two walking options—a short 1/4 mile loop and a longer 1/2 mile loop—so the event is great for families and kids. The walk ends at the Pavillion, where walkers will be greeted by exhibitors, games and food. The money raised will be used for research, advocacy, education, and awareness. While fundraising can earn you some great incentives, walking is free. Saturday, 9 a.m.; Centennial Center Park,13050 E. Peakview Ave., Englewood
