MS Awareness Week: Help the Colorado-Wyoming chapter of the National MS Society raise awareness about multiple sclerosis, a debilitating autoimmune disease that attacks the nerves and currently has no cure. The society will host educational events throughout the week, including a presentation by Dr. Allen C. Bowling, a prominent Coloardo-based MS specialist. Visit one of the many venues throughout the state to learn about therapies, treatment options, and living with MS, or spend Thursday at the Capitol to discuss research and healthcare laws with Colorado legislators. Monday to Sunday; dates and locations vary

Colorado Youth at Risk: Looking for a long-haul leap into volunteering ? CYAR hosts an informational session for potential mentors who will work with local high school freshmen deemed at risk of dropping out before graduation. The volunteer work is a year-long commitment (though attending this session isn’t) to bond with a student and help them navigate the difficulties of growing up and learning—and you’re sure to learn a lot about yourself as well. Tuesday, 6 to 7 p.m.; Manual High School, 1700 E. 28th Ave.
Boulder International Film Festival: Try your hand as an usher, box office attendant, or talk-back facilitator at the Boulder International Film Festival. If you can commit to more than eight hours of volunteer work, expect thanks in the form of complimentary movie tickets. Volunteers even have the opportunity to rub elbows with producers of films like Racing Extinction by volunteering at talkbacks. Put flicks like Being Evel and A Place to Stand on your list, and even catch an advanced screening of DreamWorks’ upcoming animated film Home. Thursday to Sunday; dates and locations vary

Adam’s Camp Hoops for Hope: Cheer on your favorite local celebs as they team up with pediatricians and developmentally disabled kids for a basketball game that raises money for Adam’s Camp. Former Denver Nuggets coach Bill Hanzlik, Denver news anchor Jim Benemann, and former Broncos player Tom Nalen are among those confirmed for the competition, which is a mixture of serious skills and silly antics. Ticket sales benefit Adam’s Camp, which provides intensive therapy for developmentally disabled kids and their families. Sponsorships and an event auction, as well as a Miracle Minute of frantic cash fundraising from the camp’s cheer and dance team, means you have every opportunity to donate. Sunday, noon; Cherry Creek High School, 9300 East Union Ave., Greenwood Village
CWEF Legacy of Learning: Colorado Women’s Education Foundation celebrates International Women’s Day with a female-focused fundraiser. Indulge in wine, cheese, and chocolate during this annual culinary event and take comfort in knowing your cash funds scholarships for local women. Feeling extra generous? CWEF offers a special tasting guided by culinary expert Elizabeth Woessner for an extra $20. Sunday, 2 to 6 p.m.; Warwick Denver Hotel, 1776 Grant St.
