Tenge Law Food Drive for the Food Bank of Larimer County: Hunger is a hidden epidemic around Larimer County, and those suffering may surprise you. Fourteen percent of Larimer County residents live at or below the Federal Poverty guideline and 33 percent of the county’s children receive free or reduced meals at school. Tenge Law Firm LLC and the Food Bank of Larimer County are joining forces for a food drive to benefit locals in need. Even the smallest donations of canned, dried, preserved, and non-perishable foods are welcome, and will help provide community members food on a day-to-day basis. Celebrating Cinema | Nature: Natural Resistance: Join film guru and CU Denver film professor Howie Movshovitz to watch and discuss Natural Resistance. As part of the film series “Celebrating Cinema | Nature,” designed to explore the enigma of nature and the consequences of mankind’s relationship to the natural world, Natural Resistance tells the story of four Italian wine makers who dream of sustainable, environmentally friendly winemaking while facing severe opposition. MaxFund 22nd Annual Chili Cook-off Fundraiser: Chili fan? You’ve come to the right event. Whether you’re submitting your famous recipe for judging or have a refined palate for the dish, join MaxFund for their 22nd Annual Chili Cook-off to benefit dogs and cats across Colorado. There will be five mouthwatering chili categories including red, green, white, veggie, and even celebrity chef. Adam’s Camp Hoops for Hope: Catch a game of hoops, enjoy some music, and brush up on your hula hooping skills—all to benefit Adam’s Camp, a Colorado-based nonprofit that provides diverse therapeutic programs for children and young adults with special needs and their families. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled during the event for some special guests. In the past, celebrities (think: NBA, NFL, and Olympic athletes) have made surprise appearances. Girls Inc. of Metro Denver Women+Film Event: Suffragette: As a participant of this year’s Denver Film Society’s Women+Film Festival, Girls Inc. of Metro Denver is screening the hit drama, Suffragette. This powerful film follows the early efforts of women as they fought for gender equality. Girls Inc. chose this film becuase it features strong females leads and is aligned with their mission to help young people find their voice and their passion. The film festival runs Tuesday through Sunday, with the Suffragette screening as a separate ticketed event on Wednesday, featuring a mix and mingle with Girls Inc. members, staff, and supporters. The festival itself is a part of Denver Film Society’s efforts to promote films for, by, and about women. Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. reception, 6:30 p.m. screening; Sie FilmCenter, 2510 E.
