Bugs & Beer: Get up close and personal with the critters at the Butterfly Pavilion for this craft beer-centered fundraising event. Check it out for the suds, or lend a hand: The publicly supported facility is looking for volunteers (apply here) to serve food, guide guests through the pavilion, and help with cleanup. Proceeds from the event will help fund the organization’s educational programs and exhibits. Thursday, 5 to 9:30 p.m.; Butterfly Pavilion, 6252 W. 104th Ave., Westminster
Denver PrideFest: Pick from a variety of opportunities to lend a hand at one of the nation’s biggest pride celebrations, which turns 40 this year. The festival featured 365,000 attendees last year, and will need plenty of help to organize events like the Coors Light PrideFest Parade on Colfax. Volunteers can choose online from a number of posts, from traffic control to production support. Interested parties should sign up on MetroVolunteers.org, then check the master sign-up page for real-time availability. Need an extra incentive? Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and Chipotle for lunch or dinner. Saturday and Sunday, times vary by task; Civic Center Park
Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Denver Walk: Be an ally to those affected by Scleroderma at this charity walk in Cherry Creek State Park. Attend or volunteer to help with registration, set up and take down, and receive free admission to the park, or get behind the scenes and sign up for the planning committee. Committee members will help with event promotion, supplies coordination, and walk-day volunteer coordination prior to the event. Visit their website to sign up. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Cherry Creek State Park, 4201 S. Parker Rd., Aurora
White Ranch Flood Restoration: Grab a shovel and enjoy the great outdoors at this volunteer opportunity just outside Golden. White Ranch Park suffered severe trail erosion during the 2013 floods, which washed out some of the park’s most popular trails. Participants will aid in reconstructing the affected trails, with breaks to chow down on a free light breakfast and lunch. Visit the Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado website to register. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; White Ranch Park, 25303 Belcher Hill Rd., Golden
Journeyman & Company American Veteran Collection Launch Party: Party until the break of dawn with the new craftsmen on the block, or until they kick you out. The Journeyman & Company are a cause-driven retailer of handcrafted goods, who donate a portion of the profits from each collection to a worthy cause. The American Veteran Collection features military-inspired goods that benefit the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America, a veteran empowerment organization that supports our nation’s wounded warriors. All of the contributing manufactures will be in attendance, and yes, there will be beer. Friday, 9 p.m.; Fin Art Co., 924 W 1st Ave.
