Raise Your Hand for DPS Students: For too many Denver students, school supplies are absent on the first day of class. Mayor Michael B. Hancock’s Inauguration Community Celebration at the Botanic Gardens sets the stage for this supplies drive, which features musical performances by R&B group Bell Biv Devoe and local jazz saxophonist Gerald Albright. Denver Public Schools asks attendees to bring schoolyard swag like backpacks, No. 2 pencils, three-ring binders, and more items that can be found on their website. The goal: fill an entire school bus with the donations. Monday, 6 p.m.; Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St.
The #PowerOfCurry: A bowl of curry is a mighty thing to have, especially when it’s helping countries like Sri Lanka to progress their development in rural areas. Pro cyclist Ted King will help present the night of food and friends, and Zepher Brewing Company will provide the libations. One dollar from each curry bowl will be donated to World Bicycle Relief, an organization that has distributed more than 230,00 new bikes to students, healthcare workers, and entrepreneurs in developing countries. Wednesday, 6 p.m.; Little Curry Shop, 1441 26th St.

James Peak Invasive Weed Removal: Sometimes, even Mother Nature needs someone to pull weeds for her. The 14,000 acres of wilderness surrounding James Peak are truly stunning, but invasive oxeye daisy flowers are threatening to impede the comeback of the endangered native vegetation. Volunteers will be scheduled for a scenic three-hour shift, with lunch provided at the end. With only gloves and hand tools for equipment, this petal-pull is perfect for the entire family. Reserve your spot on the VOC’s website. Saturday 9 a.m.; James Peak trailhead, Nederland
The White Party: For underprivileged Denver students, the future looks bright when you wear white. Join hundreds of fellow philanthropists at this rooftop party, where seafood from Blue Island Oyster Bar and Seattle Fish Company go down as easy as the Kettle One Vodka. All proceeds benefit the Blue Sky Fund, an organization that provides scholarships, tutoring, and exam preparation for college-bound Denver students. The $100 dollar entry fee keeps the party popping all the way to midnight—just try to keep the hors d’oeuvres off your white shirt until then.
