EVENTS TO ATTEND
A Night Out With WOW: At this unique benefit, making a difference is as easy (and delicious) as eating a gourmet meal prepared by two of Denver’s top chefs. Dana Rodriguez of Work & Class and her mentor, Jennifer Jasinski of Rioja and Bistro Vendôme, will each prepare four courses—and attendees can guess which mind was behind each small plate. Proceeds benefit Work Options for Women, a Denver-based nonprofit that helps unemployed women obtain the skills they need to land and keep a job in the food industry. Monday, 6–8 p.m.; Work & Class, 2500 Larimer St.; $95–$200
The Vertical Express: Make your way to Vail for an invigorating amateur ski race that you can participate in. Raise money for Can Do Multiple Sclerosis as you speed down the slopes, then complete challenges simulating the challenges that individuals with MS face to win a photo scavenger hunt. After a day of exercise, don’t miss an après ski party catered by the Lodge at Vail. Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.; Vail Ski Resort; $25
Wells Fargo Ski Cup: This weekend on the slopes gives you the chance to sponsor a young athlete in his or her journey to the 2018 Paralympics, while burning some calories yourself. Improve your skills with professional instructors at the Race Clinic, or try using the adaptive equipment that National Sports Center for the Disabled athletes use every day at a unique workshop. Not feeling particularly athletic? Volunteer instead. Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., Saturday, 7:30 a.m.–7 p.m., Sunday, 8 a.m.–noon; Winter Park Resort, 85 Parsenn Road, Winter Park; registration prices vary
The Vagina Monologues: Eve Ensler’s iconic production allows you to engage with the issues facing women in more ways than one. While the actors portraying ladies in different walks of life share their stories on stage, you can reflect on how challenging, terrifying, and wonderful women’s experiences can be. Proceeds benefit the Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Saturday, 9 p.m., Sunday, 2 p.m.; The Mercury Café, 2199 California St.; $10
Hearts and Handbags: Thanks to this Denver Human Services fundraiser, you can put an old purse to good use. As you sip on a cocktail from M Uptown, you can spend the afternoon networking and filling your tote with healthy snacks, toiletries, and information about local mental health facilities, food banks, and shelters. After the event, make a new connection by delivering your bag to someone in need. Sunday, noon–3 p.m.; M Uptown, 700 E. 17th Ave.; $10
