Local dating expert Rachel Greenwald, the author of the much praised “Find a Husband after 35” and the upcoming “Why He Didn’t Call You Back: 1,000 Men Reveal What They Really Thought About You After Your Date,” shares her tips on what NOT to do when writing an online dating profile. Don’t reveal too much. Keep a lid on medical conditions, quirky habits, aversions, and exes. Avoid saying too little. Greenwald once believed in brevity online; now she says the Facebook generation expects more content, not less. Aim for 300–350 words. Stay away from the generic. Never, ever utter the phrase “as comfortable in a tux/ball gown as in a pair of jeans.” God is in the details–be specific about what makes you different.
