Sometimes you just crave the patina of a classic. Enter Antique Row, a decades-old Denver shopping destination along South Broadway (between Dakota and Mexico avenues) where smart dealers stay relevant with both fine European antiques and funky vintage discoveries. Design your own scavenger hunt, starting with our five favorites.
1. Scandinavian Antiques
A peek inside the massive oak front door (salvaged from a Danish church) is like stepping back in time. Henrik Follin, a Danish native and 20-year veteran of Denver antiques, personally selects every piece in the 12,500-square-foot European antique emporium, and craftsmen in an on-site workshop restore antiques that have been bruised in their extensive past lives.

2. Watson & Co.
At Watson & Co., a mix of well curated antique accessories (manual typewriters, Fornasetti plates, midcentury barware) complement an impeccable selection of new pieces (including goods from owner Chris Watson’s home decor lines, Landmark and Hive). Tip: Explore the Annex (Watson’s sister store) next door to unearth attractive antiques at lower prices.

3. Eurasian Interiors
Eschewing the black lacquer pieces that dominated the genre, EurAsian Interiors (formerly DecorAsian) takes an eclectic approach to Far East decor. “Our style is a little more rustic or country,” says owner Rusty Staff. We spied a delicately painted mid-19th-century china cabinet and a large, selective collection of Oceanic art and wall hangings. Bonus: Venture upstairs for a small—but high-quality—selection of French furniture.

4. Black Tulip Antiques, Ltd.
Step into Black Tulip, Antique Row’s grande dame, and give your eyes a moment to adjust. Here, every square inch is filled with antiques, leaving little room for natural light. A French rosewood chair rests atop a Louis XVI–style commode, which sits in front of a massive Biedermeier cabinet. It’s like stumbling upon a cave of stolen treasure.

5. The Antique Exchange
Surprises wait around every corner at this massive two-story co-op, where 12 dealers specialize in pieces from a range of eras. (We’re still pining after a French carved fruitwood gentleman’s chair, circa 1880.) And for the bungalow home: mission-style furniture and colorful McCoy pottery.
