When the honeymoon’s over, many young newlyweds buy a house; Chris and Tara Seegers bought an entire town. In January 2015, the young couple purchased Hillside, a tiny former mining community north of Westcliffe, and turned it into a serene weekend escape complete with modern cottages, a renovated meeting hall for weddings and concerts, and a historic post office. This month, Hillside debuts a fifth spruced-up cottage, though some of the town’s biggest attractions—like its location in Colorado’s only International Dark Sky Community—have never needed any updates. The town’s million-dollar midnight views can now be yours starting at $100 a night.
