Denver has made an important step in the right direction. Unlike Boston in 2004, Protesters will not be confined to “cages” during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
Here’s one of several pictures I took of caged protesters in Boston:
Speaking at a training sesson at the D.U. law school, Councilman Charlie Brown said:
The city wants to get away from the long lines of shoulder-to-shoulder, riot-gear-clad police that typified security at the previous conventions in Boston and New York, according to Denver city councilman Charlie Brown, who added, “”We don’t want to provoke violence.”
The protest cages in Boston were the eyesore of the week.
