The U.S. Attorney’s office yesterday decided it will not file charges against bus rider Deborah Davis for refusing to show identification to officers while riding to work.

U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Jeff Dorschner said charges wouldn’t be filed because of a technicality involving the signs on the day of the incident. He would not elaborate.

Does this mean that charges would be brought against a future passenger who refuses to show identification? While the issue is favorably resolved as to Davis, it doesn’t sound like a victory for privacy rights.
