Frozen yogurt is one of those treats that satisfies on a whim but it’s not something I’ll drive across town for. That’s why I was thrilled to see Boom Yogurt Bar open in Lowry (in the old Fergie’s Custard location), not far from my east Denver home.
Boom is a locally owned company—the first location opened in Boulder last September—and it joins a growing list of local frozen yogurt shops, including Yogurt Guru in Cherry Creek (one of my favorites), Sweet Rush downtown, and Yogurt Shack in Littleton.
Boom offers a range of flavors (I especially like the creamy, not-too-sweet almond vanilla), as well as traditional yogurt and cottage cheese. A comprehensive range of toppings, including three local granolas—Bearclaw, Boulder, and Fiona’s—fresh and dried fruit, and nuts are offered. (For a real treat, opt for crumbles of Kim & Jake’s Italian cream cake or Outrageous Baking’s gluten-free cinnamon cake.)
Bonus: The bright location (sky blue and bright green walls, lots of windows), also offers Wi-Fi and a special Boom Room with seating ideal for kids’ birthday parties.
