# 15

Central Park is so 2019. The newest burgeoning suburb inside city limits is this top 25 first-timer. (And 10 spots above Central Park, to boot.) With incredibly high safety rankings and heaps of solitude, Fort Logan—anchored by the eponymous cemetery—is drawing young families to southwest Denver. It has a high-performing school (Kaiser Elementary) and rising home prices that are still affordable for the Mile High City. You won’t find any raucous rooftop bars or James Beard Award–winning restaurants in this quiet hamlet, but that’s just how its residents like it.

Real Estate Rank 4

Safety Rank 4

How we got these numbers: We utilized the city’s official list of 78 neighborhoods (only 73 had enough data to be included), and ranked them using four variables: home prices, crime data, school rankings, and an X factor score that accounts for things like access to open space, proximity to public transportation, and restaurant and shopping options. Your Itinerary

Eat and Drink

Fort Logan isn’t home to any of its own restaurants, so you’ll have to visit neighboring ’burbs for your foodie fix. Head south to Bow Mar for a slice of one of Walter 303’s signature pizzas (we have a soft spot for the Popeye Special) or a lobster tempura roll from JP Nori Sushi & Asian Cuisine.

Looking for a place to watch the Broncos? Post up at Monaghan’s Bar and Grill. This no-frills neighborhood eatery in Sheridan has been slinging gameday essentials (think: wings, jalapeño poppers, and cheese fries) since 1892, making it the second-oldest bar in the city.

To sate your sweet tooth, grab a slice of cake from Eternal Flavors Bakery in Bear Valley. The best part? They sell the coveted Spring Fling cake, made popular at the Market in Larimer Square.

Get Outside

On the weekends, you’ll find Fort Logan families hanging out at Bear Creek Park, a roughly 90-acre parcel, with a playground shaped like a sleeping cowboy (kids—and adults, let’s be real—adore the hallmark sombrero slide). Cyclists in search of a trail to pedal can pick up the roughly 16-mile Bear Creek Trail in the park and ride it all the way to Lakewood. This green space is in the process of getting a serious facelift that’ll include a refurbished playground, an additional picnic area, a new section of the Bear Creek Trail, and more over the next few years.

Golfers who are serious about their swing can join the private Pinehurst Country Club. Members can play an 18-hole course with the Front Range foothills as their backdrop, and when the weather turns, switch to an indoor ultra-HD golf simulator.
