2023 rank: 31
After taking a hiatus from our list last year, this posh neighborhood is back and claiming a spot in the top five as a result of skyrocketing home prices. Residents shell out an average of $2.4 million for their own slice of Country Club paradise, but these big spenders get a lot for their investment. A designated Historic Landmark District, Country Club’s streets are lined with pre-1940s homes designed by some of the city’s most renowned architects. The Denver Squares and Mediterranean-style mansions sit on large lots shaded by century-old trees. The central neighborhood also provides easy access to downtown, Cherry Creek, and Cheesman Park. Though it’s primarily residential (there is no school within its borders), Country Club is home to an exclusive golf club and commercial offerings along East Sixth Avenue.
Neighborhood Rankings
How we got these numbers: We utilized the city’s official list of 78 neighborhoods (only 73 had enough data to be included), and ranked them using four variables: home prices, crime data, school rankings, and an X factor score that accounts for things like access to open space, proximity to public transportation, and restaurant and shopping options. For more on our methodology, return to the main page.

Eat & Drink
Fruition Restaurant serves thoughtful, seasonal food that often incorporates ingredients from James Beard Award–winning executive chef Alex Seidel’s farm. Among the neighborhood’s other, admittedly limited, options are American comfort food at Satchel’s on 6th and Vietnamese cuisine at Pho on 6th.
Those looking for a space to work or who simply want a great cup of joe should point themselves toward Novo Coffee or Buzz Cafe (which is equipped with a drive-thru). For a broader selection, head a few blocks east and gain access to all of Cherry Creek North’s offerings, including rooftop darling Rare Bird.
Want to cook at home? Find top cuts of Colorado-sourced meat and high-quality seafood, as well as fabulous stocks, at Oliver’s Meat & Seafood Market.
Shop
The Lark has been a locals’ favorite for handpicked home decor and unique gifts since it opened in 1971. Thrifters who love the thrill of the find can hunt the racks of Déjá Blue Boutique (run by Goodwill) and Rags Consignments for discarded designer goods from the affluent locals. Support the kids and families at Children’s Hospital Colorado by purchasing antiques at La Cache, which was founded by a hospital volunteer almost 40 years ago.
About That Golf Club
The heart of the neighborhood is Denver Country Club. Founded in 1887, it’s the oldest country club west of the Mississippi and among the eldest in the country. Members have access to a lot more than just golf, though; the facility also has indoor and outdoor tennis courts, an Olympic–size swimming pool, a croquet pitch, and an updated gathering and dining space.
