Over the weekend former Republican Rep. Scott McInnis slammed Bob Beauprez — whom McInnis has endorsed for governor — for having a weak campaign staff. It’s hard to argue with McInnis, given that Beauprez is trailing Democrat Bill Ritter in the latest polls by 17 points, but check out what McInnis had to say to the Rocky Mountain News:
“Running for governor is big league, and big time, and it requires a lot of sophistication,” McInnis said. But handing the race over to the people running Beauprez’s campaign “is like putting a high school quarterback on the Denver Broncos and having him start the game.”

That’s some pretty harsh criticism, but I can’t help but wonder: After watching the Denver Broncos yesterday, would it really be a bad thing to turn the team over to a high school quarterback?
