Wouldn’t it be incredible if the much-lauded, cult favorite Licorería Limantour chose Denver for its next pop-up? Oh wait, it did! Now, all that stands between you and one (or more) of the Mexico City bar’s signature cocktails is a short trip to Zeppelin Station’s first floor watering hole, Kiss & Ride.
In fact, over the next three months, the RiNo food hall will celebrate Mexico City’s lively arts and culinary culture in the fourth installment of its “Made in A City” program, hosting food, fashion, and art vendors from Mexico’s capital, alongside three signature Licorería Limantour drinks. The bar will also take over Zeppelin Station July 12–14 with updated menu items.
Since Licorería Limantour relies on local ingredients for its cocktails, Zeppelin Station imported many directly from Mexico City, as well as specialty glassware; its margarita al pastor, for instance, arrives in a heavy rocks glass rimmed with cilantro salt and a slightly spicy imported taco seasoning. Inside the glass, the cocktail strikes the perfect balance between Milagro silver tequila, triple sec, and lime.
Popular Mexico City restaurant Campobaja is also taking over Zeppelin Station’s rotating food stall through August 14, bringing its fresh seafood focus to Denver. Chef Alejandro Zarate created an eight-item menu featuring grilled octopus tacos and three different fish-topped tostadas. Try the scallop version, which layers guacamole, caramelized onions, pickled pork skin, salsa macha (made with guajillo, morita, and pasilla chiles), and ceviche scallops on a fried, house-made corn tortilla.
Local producers have been invited to the party, too: In mid-August, Boulder’s Fortuna Chocolate will move into Campobaja’s stall to share its Mexican cacao-filled goodies. More than 20 artists will also grace the food hall, selling everything from Dia de los Muertos mugs from artist Demencia Beivide to dinnerware from Lagos del Mundo.
Made in Mexico City will run through November; Zeppelin Station, 3501 Wazee St.
