Most people will visit D Bar looking for something sweet. This Uptown spot is a dessert bar, after all, and chef-owner Keegan Gerhard is a famous pastry chef for a reason. The offerings—like ethereal tropical Pavlova and sinful molten chocolate cake—will beguile you with delicious possibilities, and likely cause you to overlook the rest of the menu. And that would be a shame, because missing Gerhard’s other dishes would sell him short as a chef. Exhibit A: the tiny, expertly constructed Kobe beef slider on house-made brioche, topped with drunken onions, white cheddar, and a peppy garlic aïoli. Hot Parmesan fries, salted just so, arrive alongside this perfect, upscale twist on Americana. 1475 E. 17th Ave., 303-861-4710, www.dbardesserts.com
