With 67 percent of the vote counted, the initiative to build a new jail and court facility on the current site of the Rocky Mountain News building appears likely to be easily approved.
Returns from the Denver Election Commission show that of 50,578 votes counted so far, 56 percent are in favor of Question 1A, a proposal to build a $378 million jail and justice center near the corner of 14th and Delaware. The break down of 56 percent in favor and 44 percent opposed has held since the first votes started coming in just after polls closed at 7 p.m.
