When Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams opened its first Colorado signature store in 2014, we quickly fell for the North Carolina–based retailer’s commitment to creating American-made furnishings that are as durable as they are elegant. And with the brand’s move in August across the Cherry Creek Shopping Center to a new, larger location visible from First Avenue, there’s even more to love. Whether you’re looking to redesign your living room seating for optimal party flow or simply in need of accessories to freshen up your space, here are five ways the improved interior-decor mecca can help you raise your home’s soiree-hosting potential this holiday season.
1. Double The Offerings
Through the spotless double glass doors, you’ll find there’s nearly twice as much to see in the new location’s spacious 12,000 square feet, compared to its 6,525-square-foot predecessor. The natural-light-filled space is what co-founders Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams originally envisioned for the Denver location. “We knew when we opened the first store at Cherry Creek that it was a temporary space, more of a pop-up store, and that we would be expanding into much larger quarters,” Gold says. “We were anxious to get into the Denver market, so we took the smaller, temporary space until the new space opened up.”
The store’s seamless blend of furniture settings and product assortments now covers a wider range of sizes and styles, so you’re bound to stumble across a vignette reminiscent of a room in your home, or what you hope it soon becomes: perhaps guests easily mingling in the dining room, where curved Ada arm chairs (pictured above) gracefully tuck all the way under the table during a bustling get-together, or your family comfortably lounging on a bold orange velvet Bronson sofa as you all enjoy an after-dinner Christmas movie.
2. A More Accessible Space
With entrances both inside and outside the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, the new location is also more convenient. You no longer have to carry out those new ombre vases for your fresh poinsettias or that decorative tray for glasses of eggnog through the crowded mall; just park your car right outside in the lot along First Avenue. Quick stop-ins are made easier for you and anyone else you want to bring along—including Fido. “Four-legged friends are always welcome,” Gold says.
3. New Finishing Touches
A corner of the store is dedicated entirely to the brand’s latest addition: a customizable luxury drapery collection. Just like its bed linens, pillows, rugs, and throws, these stay true to the company’s bent toward modern geometric designs and a soothing color palette. Each window treatment can be fully personalized by fabric—such as the certified Belgian linen and signature velvet—color, style treatment, top treatment, size, and hardware. Browse many of the variations in store before placing your order.
If you’re looking to freshen up your home with smaller details, four new collections of gold- and silver-trimmed glassware can bring a subtle sense of elegance to any homemade cocktail, while warm-hued bookends, decorative candles, and soft throw blankets add cheer to rooms with a clean, modern aesthetic.
4. Color Inspiration
Discover how pops of striking color and different textures can liven up a communal space before the party even starts—such as the way shimmering silver pieces, like the metallic velvet Dumont sofa (pictured above), can make a striking difference against warm accents, like a centered red storage chest.
5. On-Staff Designers
Swamped until 2017? You can relax knowing your home-decorating needs are in the hands of the professionals. Start the in-home design service process on your next visit, or better yet, have the store’s designers come to you so the team can get a sense of your space. They’ll help you craft a floor plan based on your home and list the best possible options for your style and budget—such as a multifunctional Big Easy sectional couch (pictured above), which can be rearranged for a different occasion every night of the week. Plus, you get the $200 design assistance fee back with a purchase of $2,000 or more, meaning there will be no paper trail when you humbly accept compliments on your expert decorating taste over New Year’s Eve cocktails.
