This weekend, the Denver Center Theatre Company will host its sixth annual Colorado New Plays Summit, and a new workshop driven by multimedia is already building some buzz. The project is a collaboration between the Denver Center and the Buntport Theater collective, which sold out 200 tickets to its Saturday-night workshop performance of An Extraordinary Demonstration of Nikola Tesla’s Most Recent Discoveries in just one hour, reports the Denver Post. Buntport was commissioned by the Denver Center to create the play, but don’t look for more specifics right now. As Denver Center multimedia specialist Charlie Miller says, “We’re still figuring out what it’s going to be. But we know we want to try new things, and we want to change the way we are creating new work. The Buntport project is really the first test run.”
Meanwhile, actress Sandy Duncan will perform in a comedy by Colorado’s Steven Dietz during Theatre Aspen’s 2011 summer repertory. Becky’s New Car will give the 64-year-old Duncan—famous for her television roles in The Sandy Duncan Show and Hogan’s Heroes—the chance to work alongside her son, Jeffrey Correia, who is also cast as her son in the play, writes the Post.
