Colorado has seen its share of birther craziness. There was U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin, who refused to deploy to Afghanistan on the grounds that he questioned the authenticity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate. And there was that billboard in Wheat Ridge that made Obama out to be a jihadist. Now, retired Air Force Colonel Gregory Hollister has once again set the Internet’s birther brigade ablaze, this time with possibly illegally obtained Social Security data: a copy of President Barack Obama’s draft registration from 1980 (Colorado Springs Gazette).
How did Hollister do it? Allegedly, he changed Obama’s address with the Selective Service to his own, in Colorado Springs, thereby obtaining the president’s Social Security number, which he then checked against an online database. The number on Obama’s draft registration supposedly begins with the numbers 042, which Hollister claims would have been issued to someone born in Connecticut, not Hawaii, providing fodder to those who are determined to prove the president wasn’t born in the United States.
