When news broke last week that Dan Tang, owner of the popular Heaven Dragon restaurant in Thornton, had been arrested and charged with money laundering in a massive metro-area marijuana bust, news organizations were quick to point out Tang’s heavy-hitting political associations. There was no doubting that Tang’s campaign contributions–to pols from the White House to the Colorado Statehouse–were “toxic” (via 5280). Now, Westword’s Joel Warner has discovered that “several local politicians, prosecutors associated with the case and at least one North Metro officer have relationships with Tang–or his money,” in an investigation that details Tang’s takedown–and how it’s been compromised.
