Hit the Patio at Argyll

Warm weather calls for just one thing: alfresco dining. And one of the newest spots to boast a patio is Argyll, the month-old gastropub that opened in the former Squealing Pig space.

Claim a table on the spacious terrace (steer clear of the trickling fountain, so as not to get wet), and order the house crisps and a pint of Deschutes porter. A few sips of the rich brew set the tone for Argyll’s housemade potato chips, which arrive salted, paper-thin, and drizzled with malt-vinegar gastrique. While the crisps were a smidgen too sweet when I tried them, I think the snack will continue to evolve into one of Argyll’s most popular items.

In fact, I think the whole menu of gourmet riffs on pub classics like fish and chips will progress and tighten up with time. But right now, the crisps, a pint, and the Argyll burger (made with a blend of ground beef and Colorado lamb) are a tasty way to celebrate summer.

Insider Tip: Should you arrive and find the patio packed, request a table by the floor-to-ceiling windows. You’ll feel almost outside, while also enjoying the tartan-rich, pubby decor; the sprawling bar; and the air conditioning.
