This is Hillary’s final scheduled appearance in Colorado this year. The campaign has been doing good outreach for it. Last week I got an e-mail with the link for a free ticket. Over the weekend, my home phone rang and there was a taped message from Hillary, asking me to attend. Tonight, I received another taped call from a Hillary supporter.
It’s probably a safe bet that women will be a major theme of her speech. Just this past week, Hillary’s campaign formed women’s councils around the country. You can check out the Colorado Women for Hillary Council here.
This announcement is part of the campaign’s week long focus on Women Changing America. During the week, the campaign is highlighting the decisive role women can play in this election, discussing issues important to women, and celebrating the ways that women are changing America everyday.
I’m wondering who she supports in the World Series. Back in 1999, when about to enter the Senate race in New York, she declared herself a life-long Yankees fan. In 1994, she threw out the first pitch at the Chicago Cubs game in her home town of Chicago.
Katie Couric once asked her to reconcile those endorsements on the Today Show.
She said on the ”Today” show that she was a Chicago Cubs fan but needed an American League team ”because when you’re from Chicago, you cannot root for both the Cubs and the Sox.”
A few months later, when it looked like the Yankees might face the Mets in the World Series, a reporter asked her which team she would root for:
”You know, I believe in a very open relationship with the press,” the First Lady said. ”But there are some questions even I am not dumb enough to answer.”
Just last month, she supported the Yankees over the Red Sox. But, with the New Hampshire primary so close and the serious Red Sox fever that’s swept the state, I expect she’ll stay neutral.
There’s very little else she’s neutral on, so if you’re curious about her political positions, or just want to see her up close, head on over to Auraria tomorrow.
