You hear it all the time: Oatmeal is good for you; it’s jammed with whole grains and fiber; and it might even lower your cholesterol. That’s all well and fine, but in order for you to eat it, it has to taste good, too. At Black Eye Coffee in LoHi, the breakfast cereal gets a delicious and sophisticated spin with almonds that barista Catie Cook coats in an orange-maple glaze (fresh orange zest and juice, maple syrup, and cinnamon). The dry oatmeal, which is tossed with the nuts and topped with dried cherries, is prepackaged in glass Ball jars. Once stirred with hot water, the sunshiny scent of orange rises from the jar as if to bid you good morning. 3408 Navajo St., drinkblackeye.com
