Josh Richmond persevered through strong winds and rain—and a shoot-out against his training partner—to win the double trap competition in the shotgun national championships held at Fort Carson Army post yesterday. Richmond, a 23-year-old U.S. Army marksman from Pennsylvania, hit 48 of 50 targets in the six-person final and then 30 straight targets in a sudden-death event, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. Richmond has a top-five world ranking and bested former Olympic Training Center resident Jeff Holguin.
