If you’ve been using scales to determine whether junior needs a car seat anymore, toss the strategy.
As of Sunday, all children in Colorado under the age of eight—regardless of weight—will be required to use a car or booster seat. If an officer suspects a child under eight is riding without a proper seat, the driver can be pulled over, writes the Colorado Springs Gazette.
Prior law required children under six to be in a seat.
“We are looking for a child that’s at least eight years old and at least 55 inches tall—that is the guidance for getting out of the booster seat,” local police sergeant Steve Noblitt tells Fox 21 in Colorado Springs.
