Now that spring has warmed up the happy-hour scene, I’m on the prowl for patios. On Sunday afternoons I hop on my bike and scope out new sunny places to have an end-of-the-weekend beer.

A few rides ago, Reiver’s Bar and Grill, a quiet pub on Wash Park’s South Gaylord Street, delivered. Look out onto the bustling street from a booth or table on the front patio, great for people-watching and keeping tabs on a game based on the raucous cheers from the Tavern Wash Park across the street. For a more relaxed option, head to the garden patio out back.

Inside, Reiver’s has its own sports fans, but it attracts the quieter set: fathers sharing fries with their kids and older twentysomethings nursing hangovers with Bloody Marys.

I opted for the sunny front patio and the $10 buckets of beer. Something about the late sun of a Sunday afternoon calls for Red Stripe. (Though you can mix and match with PBR or Miller Lite.) It’s a great place to call on a few friends and recap the weekend. And if anyone dares bring up the coming workweek, another bucket is only $10 away.

Happy hour runs 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 p.m. to close every night.

Wells are $2.50 and pints are $3. (The $10 buckets of beer are available anytime.)
