As brew lovers flood the Mile High City for the Great American Beer Festival this month, one new addition to our suds scene is sure to leave a sour taste in their mouths (in a good way): five-month-old Goed Zuur. The handsomely appointed Five Points beer hall is “the only tap house in the world doing all sour beers,” according to general manager Cody Boll. (Its name translates to “good acid” in Flemish.) Whether you’re a mixed-fermentation connoisseur or have no clue what wild- or kettle-soured beer is, the friendly staff is happy to help you navigate the ever-changing, globe-spanning list; they’re also open to sampling and can ease you in with affordable five-ounce pours. We favor whatever’s on tap from Denver’s Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project or Glenwood Springs’ Casey Brewing and Blending. Plus, the food—delicious, chef-driven fare such as cockles with crusty baguette, cured butter, and Hawaiian black salt; garlicky clams with speck and Meyer lemon; or a build-your-own charcuterie board of expertly curated cheeses and meats—is so good it merits a visit in itself.
