We can’t believe it’s time to flip another page on the calendar, but, in truth, we’re OK with saying goodbye to last month’s bad news. The new season has brought us a fresh start, and countless ways to connect with and support the Colorado community.
Extend: Stretch your body and your wallet at this Colorado flood relief fundraiser. Wynkoop Brewing Company is teaming up with the beer and yoga group Hoppy Yogis, and yoga nonprofit Off The Mat for this charity soirée. There will be yoga, music, and plenty of beer. All proceeds will be donated to the Salvation Army Intermountain Division for Colorado flood relief efforts. Monday, September 30, 7 p.m.
Spark: Fill your belly and rejuvenate your spirit at this free, one-hour breakfast held at the Wellshire Inn Denver. The event features cancer survivors, who will share their stories of survival and hope, while raising money for LifeSpark Cancer Resources—a Colorado nonprofit that helps bring holistic care to cancer patients. Thursday, October 3, 7:30 a.m.
Laugh: Celebrate eight years of “solving Colorado’s dropout crisis” with local nonprofit Colorado Youth for Change. In honor of CYC Founder Steve Dobo and Comedy Works owner Wende Curtis, this back-to-school comedy benefit show will feature comedian Henry Cho. Thursday, October 3, 5:30 pm
Develop: Listen to young Nepalese women share their stories of empowerment, while you enjoy appetizers, an open bar, and silent auction at this fundraiser to support Edge of Seven’s Community Development Program. The program supports infrastructure projects that open education and economic opportunities for girls and women in developing countries. Thursday, October 3, 6 p.m.
Dash: Join the flesh eating, walking dead horde of urban zombies for the third annual Zombie Dash.The race through Denver will be a riddle-filled challenge, which wraps up at Casselman’s Bar & Venue. Proceeds will benefit Florence Crittenton Services of Colorado—a Denver-based nonprofit that educates, prepares and empowers teen moms to be productive members of the community. Saturday, October 5, 11 a.m.
Swing: Bring your best flapper attire, and be ready to get your swank on at this Roaring 20s charity party to benefit HeartGift. Held at the Parkside Mansion in Denver, this party has food, spirits, casino games, and live music by Swing Je T’Aime. All proceeds, including the silent auction hosted by local artists and business owners, will be donated to sponsor a child’s life-saving heart surgery. Saturday, October 5, 7:30 p.m.
Celebrate: Kick off the Carter Work Project with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. Located in Globeville’s historic urban park—Argo Park—the celebration will have activities for the entire family, including live entertainment, refreshments, and an opportunity to learn more about the Globeville community and the what Habitat for Humanity is doing during the Carter Work Project—a week-long work project launched to improve homes and communities in California, Colorado, New York, and New Jersey. Sunday, October 6, 1 p.m.
Tour: Treat yourself to a relaxing afternoon spent touring some of Denver’s historic and contemporary loft homes. All proceeds will benefit the Family HomeStead, and will help the nonprofit fulfill its mission to end homelessness one family at a time. Sunday, October 6, 1 p.m.
