Feeling rejuvenated after the holiday weekend? Use that energy for good. Here are a few ways to get involved around Denver this week.
Hoop: Bring your hula-hoop, grab a scoop of ice cream, and enter this annual competition at Little Man Ice Cream on September 8th (open to all ages). Hoopers are judged on style, originality, and best dressed, and can win ice cream for a year, tickets to the aquarium, and more. The $5 entry fee goes to benefit local schools.
Watch: Fight fire with fashion. Quarterly Karma is hosting a night of music, fashion, and food, on September 7, to benefit Do Your Part Inc.’s fund that helps victims of Colorado wildfires. Watch local designers strut their latest fashions down the catwalk, grab some grub from Denver’s best food trucks, and score some new threads from local boutiques.
Wear: Sometimes helping out can be as easy as wearing teal. Join thousands of people on National Wear Teal Day, a day designated to help raise awareness for ovarian cancer and sponsored by the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance. September 6 is the day to show your support.
Get Outside: Join thousands of employees, friends, and families of Xcel Energy on September 7 in this statewide day of service. Volunteers can help mulch, paint, build a mountain bike trail, clean up trash, as well as many other opportunities. Go help keep Colorado beautiful.
