As leaves and temperatures continue to fall, there are plenty of ways to savor the autumn season in the Denver community. Check out this week’s feel-good events.
Take A Bite: Embrace your sweet tooth. Through the end of October, Smiling Moose Deli will be donating a portion of profit from each cookie sold at all locations to Boulder and Broomfield counties’ Community Food Share, Inc. Based in Boulder, Smiling Moose wants to aid displaced community members after last month’s flooding.
That's only $1 per issue!
Monkey Around: On Saturday, Denver will transform into a true planet of the apes. The Denver Gorilla Run is celebrating its 10th anniversary and during the race, participants will put on full gorilla suits and stampede through the heart of downtown Denver. The 5K fun run benefits the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, an international charity working to fight mountain gorilla extinction.
Dress Up: Get your furry friends into the Halloween spirit with a dog and horse costume fashion show, haunted hay rides, and a trick-or-treat barn at the Haunted Runway Rocks the Ranch this weekend. The event is located at Zuma’s Rescue Ranch in Littleton and raises money for homeless dogs and horses.
Get Crafty: At Sipping N’ Painting Hampden, the arts of painting and drinking are equal. Whether you choose to paint a colorful autumn view of Lake Dillon or a festive pumpkin picture while sipping on a glass of wine, it’s all for a good cause. Saturday’s event benefits the Food Bank of the Rockies and Sunday’s event is a fundraiser for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
