Attendees should bring an item from the list of needs, including gently used clothing, hygiene products, sports equipment and more. You can also partake in a silent auction for a chance to win spa packages, signed Broncos footballs, and jewelry. Round out the evening by enjoying a light dinner buffet, desserts, and beer and wine. Donate a Laugh, Save a Life: Comedian Dakota Koontz is proving that laughter can literally save lives with his one-of-a-kind comedy show. In three separate 10-minute sets, local comedians Adrian Bishop, Jeff Koehn, and Koontz himself will offer up their wit and humor, before turning the stage over to headliner Elaina McMillian. When you’re not laughing, participate in a silent auction that will feature prizes like a Broncos cigar box and a specially made Broncos sign. All proceeds benefit Donor Alliance, a nonprofit organ procurement organization and tissue bank that serves Colorado and parts of Wyoming. Thursday, 7–9 p.m.; Syntax Physic Opera, 554 S. Broadway; $20

In addition to getting your artistic fill, you’ll enjoy a farm fresh, slow food meal courtesy of Blackbelly Market and an assortment of locally crafted beverages. Live music, a short film, and a presentation by Buffalo Field Campaign co-founder Mike Mease will round out the event. All proceeds will benefit the BFC, whose field and policy efforts protect America’s last wild buffalo. Saturday, 6–10 p.m., 1301 Spruce St., Boulder; $75–$100

Causes to Care About
Pop Culture Classroom: With its various programs and workshops, Pop Culture Classroom is transforming non-traditional media (think: comic books, board games, and other forms of pop culture) into a sustainable and meaningful way of cultivating children’s love of learning. While its most popular program is Denver Comic Con, which benefits the organization’s overall educational endeavors, Pop Culture Classroom’s classroom program delivers educational resources directly to schools, teachers and community organizations, using comics, graphic novels and related pop culture media to encourage learning.
Girls on the Run of the Rockies: The local branch of the International Council of Girls on the Run International combines youth health, physical activity, and life skills to help girls in third through eighth grades unleash and foster their own confidence. Participants experience positive personal development and a sense of accomplishment through interactive lessons and running games aimed at assisting them in becoming emotionally and physically prepared for tackling a 5K. By the end of the program, girls will walk away with a new appreciation of health and fitness.
