Sometimes, lending a hand in the community means attending an unusual fashion show, or rocking your favorite flannel and sipping on a Bud Light. You can do both this week.
Fashion Sense: Help Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center celebrate their 40th anniversary with Condom Couture, a fashion show featuring trends from the past four decades—all crafted out of rubbers. Revel in the original designs while supporting the programs and services of the Women’s Health Center. Fri. 7:30 p.m.; Boulder Theater.
Stretch Your Sealegs: Just because Denver’s landlocked doesn’t mean you can’t find good fish. In honor of its newest location in Colorado Mills, seafood-centric national chain Bonefish Grill is partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver for an evening of fresh seafood, cocktails, and music. Sat. 6-8:30 p.m.; 14760 W. Colfax Ave., Lakewood.
Comfort Food: Does anything sound better on a chilly November night than jazz music and gingerbread house-building? Find both these things—plus cocktails and hors d’oeuvres—at Early Connections Learning Centers‘ annual Gingerbread & Jazz Gala. Sat. 6-10 p.m.; 104 E. Rio Grande, Colorado Springs.
Flannel Up: Denverites may not need a special occasion to wear flannel and overalls, but a Lumberjack Bar Crawl is a pretty good one anyway. Head to the Tavern Downtown in your best Paul Bunyan-esque garb. Entry is free with a suggested $3-5 donation that will go to Environmental Learning for Kids, a Denver nonprofit that provides outdoor education experiences for urban youth. Sat. 9 p.m.–midnight; the Tavern Downtown.
Indulge Your Sweet Tooth: Not much of a baker? Here’s a win-win solution for you: Buy a pie online from the Colorado-based nonprofit Project Angel Heart and pick it up in Denver or Colorado Springs on Thanksgiving morning. For every pie sold, Project Angel Heart will prepare and deliver five nutritious meals to Coloradans with life-threatening illnesses. Buy pies until November 21 at pieintheskycolorado.org.
