43rd Annual Men’s Event: Join the University of Colorado Denver for its 43rd Annual Men’s Event, with proceeds benefitting prostate cancer research programs at UC’s Cancer Center. Begin your evening at a panel focused on cancer awareness and research featuring Paul Maroni, M.D. and Elizabeth Kessler, M.D., before attending a short cocktail reception with fellow attendees. Then settle in for a steak and lobster dinner prepared by Palm Restaurant with the Master of Ceremonies Les Shapiro. Pie in the Sky: Giving is as sweet as receiving, and you can do both during the holiday season thanks to the Pie in the Sky program. Now in its eighth year, Bluepoint Bakery is partnering with Project Angel Heart to offer four classic and delectable pie flavors (pumpkin, apple, pecan and cherry) for purchase until Nov. 17. Cut down on your cooking time by ordering your holiday desert online and picking it up at one of 19 locations across the Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver areas. All proceeds will help Project Angel Heart deliver nutritious, medically tailored meals free of charge to 2,800 Coloradans facing life-threatening illnesses. Scrapped: Winner of the humanitarian award at Blissfest 2016, Scrapped is a 94-minute documentary that follows filmmaker Nathan Reitz’s descent into homelessness. During the screening, viewers will take a compelling and altering journey into our nation’s most vulnerable communities and their arduous search for a way out. Before you get settled in, stop by the concessions and grab a snack, drink or coffee and drop off your donation of a winter hat, socks, or gloves. Held in conjunction with the Elevation Christian Church, portions of tickets sales will benefit Project J215, monthly meals for the homeless in Aurora. The Adoption Exchange 29th Annual Gala, A Fantasy Ball: On National Adoption Day, support adoptive families across the state through this black-tie gala event packed with exciting entertainment, great food, as well as a live and silent auction. Enjoy appetizers like crab and caviar canape and entrees featuring boneless braised angus beef steak and cashew crema while you listen to The Wash Park Band and SOAR! Youth & Adult Choir. Auction Divas Libby Pollack and Shelly St. John will serve as your hosts for the live bidding, offering up great prizes like a dinner for eight with Ryan Harris, 2016 Denver Bronco Super Bowl champion, and an African photo safari at Elzuwini Game Lodge. Denver Colorado AIDS Project: Through its many education, testing, and care services, DCAP provides Coloradans living within the Denver area (and its eight other participating counties) necessary and life-changing programs to enhance their quality of life and make self-sufficient, healthy choices. Through a series of on-site and community health collaborations, residents at risk of and already living with HIV/AIDS have access to services focused on counseling, transportation and housing. In addition, DCAP operates a food bank and offers free HIV testing, regardless of age, sex, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or gender expression.
