As the days grow longer and the temperatures warm, the first signs of Spring are (finally) appearing—and here are four ways you can use your extra hours of sunshine to do some good in the community this week.
Soup for the soul: Grab a spoon and sample gourmet soups and appetizers from 15 of the area’s finest chefs—including Alex Seidel of Fruition and Gabe Godell of The Kitchen—in support of Porter Hospice and St. Anthony Hospice. In addition to good eats, Soup for the Soul will include a silent auction and gift certificate prizes. Mon, 5:30-9 p.m., Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel
That's only $1 per issue!
Bald spot: Kick off St. Paddy’s Day weekend by braving a buzzcut. Stop by Fadó Irish Pub in LoDo this Friday to shed your ‘do in support of St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Can’t part with your precious locks? Donate to the cause here. Fri, 4 p.m.–2 a.m., 1735 19th St.
Art smarts: Looking to add some color to your blank walls? Peruse a collection of paintings from 11 Myanmar artists at Art Exiled (pictured) this Saturday. Proceeds benefit Thirst Aid, an international organization founded by Denver’s Cathy and Curt Bradner that brings safe water to the people of Myanmar. Sat, 7-10 p.m., Posner Center
Friendly competition: In support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, fourteen leaders in the Denver area are competing for the title of “Man or Woman of the Year.” Whoever raises the most money in support of blood cancer research over a 10-week period wins. Get to know the candidates and donate to their combined goal of $400,000 here. Donations accepted through May 16.
