Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is upon us. Make St. Valentine proud this year by spreading love in the Denver community. Here are three ways to show you care by skipping the gimmicks and giving back.

Send a rose: Show Denver elderly you care by donating $14 to Wish of a Lifetime this week. Each donation contributes to Wish of a Lifetime’s goal to deliver 1,400 roses to seniors on Valentine’s Day. Visit seniorwish.org until Thursday to put a smile on a senior’s face.

Family fun: Miller Coors Chairman Peter H. Coors and his wife, Marilyn, always felt uneasy leaving their kids with a babysitter on a Valentine’s date night, so they created Hearts of All Ages, a kid-friendly carnival that features face painting, dancing, carnival snacks, and a silent auction. Emceed by 9News meterologist, Becky Ditchfield, this annual event benefits the University of Colorado Department of Orthopedics. Fri 5:30-8:30 p.m.; Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum.

Jam session: Spread the love into the weekend at the 30 Years of Love Benefit Concert. To celebrate three decades of community service by the Douglas/Elbert Task Force, which provides assistance to homeless and low-income families in Douglas and Elbert counties, Boulder country-rock band Firefall will play two one-hour concert sets. A portion of each $17 general admission ticket will go toward task force building improvements. Sun 3-7 p.m.; Douglas County Events Center.
