It’s never a bad time to show the Earth a little love, but April is as good a month as any. (Tuesday, April 22, is Earth Day.) In case you forgot to plant your blue spruce last week, here are our picks now to help save the planet—and assist a few of its inhabitants, as well.
Rock It: Show the planet a little love this week with one of the Centennial State’s many Earth Day options. Events such as Denver’s Earth Day Fair or Nederland’s Wild Earth Day ensure a range of engaging, educational activities, but our pick is the Amazing Rock the Earth Race. The seven-hour Amazing Race–style scavenger hunt sends teams across the Front Range in search of clues, all in the name of environmental celebration. Sun, 8 a.m.; 1536 Wynkoop St., Suite B200.
That's only $1 per issue!
Dog Town: Support your furriest friends at Puttin’ on the Leash, the Humane Society of Boulder’s biggest annual fundraiser. The evening features dinner catered by two-dozen local restaurants, complimentary beer and wine, and maybe even dogs in capes. You might just win a trip to see your kitty’s cousins on an African safari, one of several hundred items up for bid. Sat, 6 p.m.; Coors Events Center at CU Boulder.
Drink Up: Nosh and drink at a tapas-style dinner hosted by Easter Seals Colorado, which features pork belly tacos and bleu cheese–stuffed mushrooms, among other delectable bites each paired with one of Tommyknocker Brewery‘s brews. Proceeds from the event go toward Rocky Mountain Village camp scholarships for kids with disabilities. Sat, 6 p.m.; Rocky Mountain Village, 2644 Alvarado Rd., Empire
Show Time: Celebrate V-Day—that’s V for victory, valentine, and vagina—with one of three showings of The Vagina Monologues, the award-winning play by the founder of V-Day, an that stives to end violence against women. This weekend’s event benefits Out Boulder and its goal of ending gender-based violence on the Front Range. Fri, 8 p.m. and Sat, 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.; Nomad Theater.
