One hundred and thirty people were killed and 368 injured in the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris—an unspeakable tragedy consisting of coordinated mass shootings, suicide bombings, and hostage situations throughout the City of Light and its northern suburb, Saint-Denis. Coloradans can send messages of support by signing the “Book of Condolences for the People of Paris” through Wednesday at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building. Omar-Pierre Soubra, the president of the Rocky Mountain French American Chamber of Commerce and a native Parisian who moved to Colorado in 2005, is helping oversee the book signing. Soubra will personally deliver the journal of thoughts, prayers, and words of support to the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, on Tuesday, December 1. Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock will sign the book himself during a private ceremony on Tuesday morning.
Locals and visitors are encouraged to stop by the lobby of the Wellington Webb Building until Wednesday afternoon to sign the book. If you are unable to make it in person, all are welcome to leave messages of condolences on the Denver Sister Cities International Facebook page, which will be added to the book before delivery.
