Walk Through a Winter Wonderland | January 3
Just because we can’t enjoy Dean Martin’s Christmas classic for another 350 days, doesn’t mean we can’t walk through an actual winter wonderland. The City of Boulder’s Open Space & Mountain Parks’ naturalists are hosing a winter nature hike to explore the landscape and the wildlife in Chautauqua Park. No matter the weather, the group will depart from the Chautauqua Ranger Cottage for a moderate, family-friendly stroll. The hike will end with hot chocolate and tea. Silent Disco on Skates | January 5
Whether you are an Olympic-level skater or falling on the ice every two seconds, there’s no doubt you’ll enjoy the silent disco at the Downtown Denver Rink at Skyline Park. Ullr Fest | January 9–12
Are you hoping for snow? Breckenridge is hosting the 55th annual Ullr Fest, which celebrates all things snow. Ullr, the Norse god of snow and winter, will be the center of attention. The party will feature horned viking hats, an enormous Christmas tree bonfire, and a parade along Main Street. Stock Show Kick-off Parade | January 10
Celebrate the start of the National Western Stock Show—and Colorado’s western roots—with this one-of-a-kind parade through downtown Denver. Forty Longhorn cattle, along with horses, cowboys, cowgirls, tractors, and marching bands will trek down 17th street, ending at 17th and Tremont Place, where the annual barbecue will take place in the atrium of the Wells Fargo building. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert | January 15
The Colorado Symphony presents a tribute concert to one of the most inspirational leaders in history—Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In addition to paying homage to the civil rights leader, the evening will feature guest performances and honor the recipients of the 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award. 29th International Snow Sculpture Championships | January 21–30
Prepare to be amazed. Sixteen teams from around the world will gather in Breckenridge to transform 25-ton blocks of snow into detailed sculptures. Each participating artist is only allowed hand tools to carve the blocks of snow over a period of 96 hours. The sculptures will exist in a temporary art gallery around the Riverwalk Center in downtown Breckenridge from January 25 through January 30. 150 W. Adams Ave., Breckenridge
Teen Lounge: Things That Glow | January 25
It’s teen night at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science! The museum will light up the night with glowing minerals, art walls, and creepy slime. The event will feature a DJ, prizes, and snacks. Free for teens ages 13–18. Starts at 7 p.m.; 2001 Colorado Blvd.
