The Front Range is blessed with free and affordable music during the warmer months, and one place is touting a diverse genre mix that features a popular local vocalist, a classical guitarist, and Eastern music.
The Central Library’s Beatwave is a summertime concert series that takes place on Sunday afternoons in Schlessman Hall from 2 to 3 p.m. The remaining three shows should be a welcome break from the afternoon sun.
On Sunday, June 27, Esme Collins of Paper Bird will perform, a rare chance to see and hear the vocalist, who usually sings as part of a trio, solo. If you’re into world music, Due East will be performing Eastern music on July 11, and classical guitarist Ben Altman plays on July 18.
Bonus: Want to fill your Sundays with free music? Grab a picnic after the Beatwave show and head to City Park, where the wildly popular City Park Jazz concerts have already kicked off. The shows start at 6 p.m., but if you want a prime picnic spot, get there early.
