I’ve become a bit of a Scrooge this holiday season. Deadlines for the writing side of my life have collided with daily gigs from the music side of my life, and I find myself running around ragged. But I’d like to find a little holiday spirit before I travel home for Christmas.
That’s how Wash Park’s Luminaria Night caught my attention. On Sunday, from 4-9 p.m., all the houses around the park will display their versions of luminaria: glowing LED candles in bags.
The inaugural event is spearheaded by Wash Park resident Rick Janson, who returned to his hometown of Chicago last year and was inspired by the neighborhoods in the area with luminaria. He wanted to launch the holiday cheer in Denver, so he bought and delivered the LED candles and bags to all of his neighbors.
This Grinch is hoping a little hot cider and a walk through the park will make the holidays bright again.
