If you’re like me, the fish counter can be a daunting spot with questions like, “Which is more sustainable, Atlantic or Pacific cod?” (Pacific) Or, “Which has higher levels of mercury, Chilean sea bass or striped bass?” (Chilean sea bass)
Now, thanks to a mention in the current issue of Bon Appetit, I consult FishPhone. The service, activated by texting 30644 and entering “FISH” followed by the type of fish you’re considering, offers the quick and dirty on potential purchases.
After texting “Atlantic cod,” I received a message from Blue Ocean Institute indicating that, for environmental reasons, I should look for Pacific cod instead.
Finally, the guesswork is gone.
