Just after his swearing in, President Barack Obama sat down to an inaugural lunch of Abraham Lincoln’s favorite foods (seafood stew, duck and pheasant, and apple-cinnamon sponge cake).
To commemorate the occasion, we suggest going out for a local meal that nods to our new president’s favorites: tuna salad, chili, pizza (made in a wood-burning oven), and peach cobbler.
Mona’s makes a cranberry-and-scallion-laced tuna melt that puts Obama’s homemade version to shame.
Stop by the Wynkoop Brewing Company for hearty buffalo chili–a Western spin on the President’s choice soup.
Or head to Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizzeria for wood oven–baked pizzas and Steuben’s for warm peach cobbler topped with smooth vanilla ice cream.
