An anonymous tip, perhaps from someone trying to preserve the memory of Rick James’ funky music, has helped the FBI nab Lester Eugene Fowler. The so-called “Super Freak” bandit was arrested Friday evening at a Denver home without incident, according to The Associated Press. Fowler earned the title because he wore a wig similar to the long, tamed Jheri curl-type locks of James, who in 1981 topped the charts with his song, “Super Freak,” according to The Denver Post. In his music video, James wields a bass guitar. Fowler, on the other hand, might or might not have had a weapon. He is suspected of several bank robberies in which he allegedly enters, points, and loudly orders tellers around, demanding money and claiming he has a weapon without flashing one, according to the Aurora Sentinel.
